Solar basics

How does a solar power system work?

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. The inverter turns that electricity into the same kind of power your appliances use and, during the day, uses it to run your loads and charge your batteries. At night or during outages, your appliances run from the batteries, with the grid or a generator as backup.

Does solar work on cloudy or rainy days?

Yes, but output drops on heavily overcast days. We size systems using average sunshine levels, and your batteries and grid or generator supply cover days with lower production.

Will solar completely replace the grid or my generator?

It can, but for most customers the best value is a hybrid system that greatly reduces generator use and grid dependence. We will explain the options and the cost of each.

System capacity

What appliances can a solar system power?

Almost any, if the system is large enough. Lighting, fans, TVs, laptops and routers need a small system; refrigerators, pumps and air conditioners need a larger inverter and more battery and panel capacity. We show you exactly what your system is designed to run.

Can solar power my air conditioner?

Yes. Inverter-type air conditioners are the most efficient choice. Running ACs for many hours, especially at night, requires a substantially larger battery bank, so we size carefully around your usage.

How long will my batteries last during an outage?

It depends on battery capacity and what you run. A battery sized for your evening loads will not last as long if you add heavy appliances. Your quotation states the expected backup time for the loads it was designed for.

Can I expand my system later?

In most cases, yes. We design with expansion in mind, so you can add panels or batteries as your needs grow.

Cost and payment

How much does a solar system cost?

Cost depends on your daily energy use, the backup hours you need and the equipment selected. Use our energy calculator for an estimate of your needs, then request a quote for an itemized price.

What affects the price?

Mainly inverter size, battery capacity, number of panels, equipment brand, installation complexity and roof or mounting type. Exchange rates also affect equipment prices.

Do you offer installment payments?

We offer outright payment and deposit-plus-staged payments. Installment plans may be available for qualifying customers, subject to approval. See Payment Options for current details.

Installation

How long does installation take?

Most home systems are installed in one to two days. Larger commercial and industrial systems are scheduled in phases, and we agree the timeline with you in advance.

Do you need to inspect my property first?

For most systems, yes. A site assessment lets us check your roof, wiring, distribution board and existing equipment so your quotation is accurate.

How should I prepare for installation?

Make sure our team can access the roof and the installation area, and let us know about any roof leaks or structural concerns. We will tell you if power needs to be switched off during connection.

Maintenance and warranty

How often does a solar system need maintenance?

We recommend a check every six to twelve months, plus regular panel cleaning in dusty conditions, especially during Harmattan.

What warranties apply?

Panels, inverters and batteries carry their manufacturers' warranties, which we document at handover. Our installation workmanship is covered for 12 months.

What happens if something stops working?

Contact us by phone or WhatsApp with a description and, if possible, a photo of the inverter display. We will diagnose the issue and, where a component is under warranty, manage the claim with the supplier.

Commercial and industrial

Can solar support my business operations?

Yes. Solar can carry critical loads such as lighting, computers, POS systems and refrigeration, or a large share of your total consumption, depending on system size.

Can solar work with my existing generator?

Yes. Hybrid systems are designed to work with your generator, so it runs less often and only when needed.

How do you size a commercial or industrial system?

We review your bills, fuel records and equipment and, where necessary, log your actual electricity use over several days. The design is then based on measured data, not guesswork.
