Solar energy calculator
Add your appliances and hours of use, and see your estimated system size instantly.
Step 1
What do you want to power?
No appliances added yet. Pick from the list above or add a custom appliance.
Power (watts): check the label on the appliance or its manual. If you are not sure, keep our default value.
Step 2
Your backup needs
Step 3
Your estimated energy needs
Your requirements suggest a larger or three-phase system. We recommend a professional energy assessment for an accurate design.
Book an Energy AssessmentThese results are estimates based on the information you entered and standard assumptions for Nigerian conditions. Actual requirements depend on your appliances, usage habits, site conditions and equipment chosen. A professional assessment is required before a final design or quotation. Results do not guarantee savings or backup duration.
How we calculated this
- Daily energy per appliance = quantity × power (W) × hours used per day.
- Peak load = the share of your appliances likely to run at the same time (80%) plus the starting surge of your largest motor or compressor.
- Inverter: peak load + 25% safety margin, converted to kVA at a power factor of 0.8, rounded up to a standard size.
- Battery: energy used by your outage appliances during the backup hours selected, with inverter efficiency 90% and usable battery capacity 90% (lithium).
- Solar panels: daily energy ÷ (4.5 average peak sun hours × (1 − 20% system losses)) ÷ inverter efficiency, using 550 W panels.
